“When we help someone heal from trauma, we change not just that person’s life, we help their spouse, their children, their friends, their community, and we change the course of civilization”

EMDR therapy
EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is evidenced-based, integrative psychotherapy approach, proven effective for the treatment of trauma (both single traumatic events and complex trauma, caused by chronic adverse experiences from the past, such as neglect and abuse).
It includes neurobiological aspects and is recommended by WHO for treatment of trauma.
Goals of EMDR therapy
The goal of EMDR therapy is to find the causes of current problems in the past, relate them to current symptoms, reprocess and give them a new, adaptive meaning. This gives the opportunity to reorganize past experiences in a way, that leaves traumatic events in the past, making them “closed chapters”, so the memory of trauma does not interfere with present and the future. EMDR therapy, used as part of crisis intervention, can effectively prevent developing PTSD symptoms, thus protecting against the disorganization of our lives.
